Notes:
- Stardust meditation is suitable for adults and children. This meditation introduces to meditation, a quiet mind, subtle sensing and mindful perception of animals in a playful way. The imagination of stardust is an aid here. You can also replace it with other elements such as glitter dust or similar.
- If the animal you are doing this meditation with wants to walk away, that's perfectly okay. Observe whether your movements may have startled it. Then try it next time at a greater distance and even more calmly. But maybe the animal just didn't feel like it, that's ok too. You can't force someone to relax. It may also be that the animal finds the meditation wonderful, but at some point has had enough stardust and leaves. Of course, that's completely fine and you can be happy for the animal.
- Do not stroke the animal before, during or immediately after meditation. However, if it seeks contact with you, this is completely ok. The reason for this is that animals are very sensitive when they are relaxed and can then easily be frightened by touch.
- Meditation is not about achieving something, but about trying something out and observing and feeling how it feels for you and the animal. I am very curious to hear about your experiences. You are welcome to write to me!
stardust meditation
Is there an animal near you that is sitting or lying down? Now imagine that the entire room or all the air between you and the animal is filled with a fine layer of stardust. The faster you move, the more the dust swirls up. However, the calmer you are, the calmer the dust becomes and even starts to glow very finely. When the dust is stirred up again, the glow stops. Now sit down right where you are and as carefully as possible. The front of your body, belly and chest should be facing the animal.
Your aim now is to sit as still as possible without stirring up the stardust. Pay attention to your breathing. You don't need to hold your breath or try to breathe particularly slowly. That's not even necessary. Let your lungs and belly make the movements of their own accord and then observe the animal. Where do you see the breathing movements?
The stardust is very pleasant and relaxing for both you and the animal. It could be a little more. Now imagine that your eyes are like a laser that you can use to beam even more stardust from the sky to earth. But so that you don't immediately shoot the animal like a laser. Find an imaginary spot on the ground in front of you and then imagine that you are now beaming the stardust from the sky onto the earth with your eyes. Like a jet of water, more and more stardust is added. Now relax your eyes again so that it doesn't get too much and the jet doesn't swirl everything up again. Now the dust must calm down again. So you just sit still again and watch the animal. Imagine that the fine dust particles in the air become quieter and quieter and a few land on the fur, where they begin to glow very finely. How does that feel for the animal? Just observe the animal. Now imagine that the star particles also land very finely on your skin and begin to glow subtly. How does that feel for you?
Sit like this for a while, feel yourself, observe the animal and the stardust. Then you can stand up very slowly and carefully so that the stardust can continue to glow and is not stirred up again. Now slowly move away from the animal.
